Before our first meeting
The first step is to confirm the person’s death and obtain proof of death. Once proof of death has been obtained, it’s important to organize the funeral in accordance with the deceased’s wishes. At the same time, it will be important to carry out a will search to validate the existence of a registered will, and that it is indeed the deceased’s last will and testament. The death certificate will be essential in order to begin the process of liquidating the estate.
At your first appointment
Once you’ve obtained the will search, the death certificate and the will, if applicable, you can obtain a legal consultation with your notary to fully understand the liquidator’s obligations and responsibilities, as well as the steps involved in the estate liquidation process.
During the liquidation of the estate
A preliminary balance sheet must be completed to assess the value of the deceased’s assets.
The liquidator shall pay the creditors of the Estate as and when they arise.
Once all the steps in the liquidation of an estate have been completed, the liquidator will be authorized to distribute the assets among the heirs, in accordance with the will or the law, as the case may be.
